In 2011 Deb was drawn more deeply to yoga. She felt the connection of what yoga was and how much it meant to her to continue practicing. When she learned to let go of the mind stuff, she began to realize that yoga helped her heal, cleared her mind, and she began to connect with a higher power. In 2012, she finished her first 200 Hour Yoga Certification as well as her Personal Training Certification. Five years later, Deb decided to re-take Yoga Teacher Training training at House of Yoga. She has learned much more about Yoga's lineage and the spiritual connection through Durga Devi and Shiva Das and is honored to teach to the community at House of Yoga.
Deb has been married to Michael since 1994 and together they have two children.
Renee´ has always been active and enjoys various forms of exercise. She began her journey into authentic yoga 18 months ago, with the gracious staff at House of Yoga.
Together Durga Devi and Shiva Das are co-directors of House of Yoga in Berkley, MI. Over the past 14 years they have led numerous teacher training and Yoga Lifestyle programs (LIFE OS). Both E-RYTs, Experienced Yoga Teachers registered with Yoga Alliance, each with over 5000 hours of teaching experience. In 2011, they received blessings from Mark Whitwell as certified Heart of Yoga Teachers, to transmit the yoga teachings of Krishnamacharya. Their yoga philosophy is based on Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga. It is in this foundational light, that all their teachings are based. They believe in the healing of mantra and sound and have hosted kirtans with Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das and Girish and others. In 2010 they founded the kirtan group “Vishnu Blue” as a vehicle to share mantra, kirtan and sacred sound. In June 2015 they were blessed by Bhagavan Das to share this energetic path and were given their spiritual names on the path of Bhakti Yoga.
Married to Andy for 22 years, he was her first introduction into a vegetarian lifestyle during our earliest days of courtship. Trained as a registered dietitian, She is now evolving to explore vegan food choices and how to find alternative cooking methods. It has been an enjoyable endeavor both personally and professionally.

Stephanie works in her home, raising three children and two Collies. She holds a license as a certified occupational therapist assistant, previously working with individuals healing from traumatic injury. She is humbled and grateful to join the teaching staff at House of Yoga.
Caroline started her yoga practice some years ago.
Yoga immediately brought peace to her life, and softened her anxiety.
Through the support of the House of Yoga community Caroline decided to deepen her practice. Caroline is a graduate of House Of Yoga's Teacher Training Program. Durga Devi, and Shiva Das helped her tap into a conscience life style, with abundant love. Caroline now strives to serve others, and share the gift of yoga.
Shiva Das has been practicing and studying yoga since 1998. His philosophical approach is rooted in the teachings of Ram Dass, Bhagavan Das, Godfrey Devereux, Mark Whitwell and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
Shiva Das currently studies under the guidance of mantra teachers and spiritual guides Russill Paul,
and Naren K. Schreiner (Kamalakanta).
His asana practice and teaching is inspired by time spent with international yoga teacher Mark Whitwell.
Shiva Das has taught thousands of classes over the past 16 years in the Detroit area and continues to teach the delicate balance of physical and subtle, masculine and feminine as a method to experience a vibrant, happy life.
Shiva Das' daily practice includes asana, pranayama, mantra and meditation.
Durga Devi was introduced to yoga through chanting and meditation as a teenager, through the Siddha Yoga lineage (Swami Baba Muktanada and Gurumayi Chidvilasananda.)
In her late 30's, she was introduced to asana practice and fell in love with the Ashtanga method. After completing a teacher training in 2003, Durga Devi completed a 300 hr training in Jivamukti Yoga in 2005 with David Life and Sharon Gannon and received their blessings as a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher.
Durga Devi's style of teaching has a spiritual foundation with a playful approach to challenging the body and the mind in order to break out of patterns and let go of limiting beliefs so that we may BE our true Self, which is blissful and luminous.
Her teaching is influenced from life experience and from beloved teacher, Mark Whitwell. Durga Devi's love of mantra and Bhakti Yoga is sustained through practice and studies with Bhagavan Das, from whom she received her spiritual name.
Has always been drawn to movement, spirit, and the desire for a deeper level of connection. Her interests continued to grow as she studied, performed and taught ballet.
Began her yoga path as a meditator. In 2007, she was introduced to hatha yoga, which brought peace, balance and new insights into her daily experiences. Wanting to share her love of yoga with others, she completing yoga teacher training in spring of 2017.
Majoring in Psychology at The University of Michigan, Laurie was drawn to courses that explored psychology and spiritual beliefs. Years later she tried yoga. 'I had no idea what “Ashtanga” was, but it was the first time I felt that I had fully experienced the present moment.' Her jouney includes earning a 200-level RYT and starting a yoga intramural program at Cranbrook Schools. 'I am honored to continue the lineage of yoga as a student and teacher, and believe that the best way to embody the practice of yoga is to greet each day with gratitude and express kindness and compassion toward all. '
Deb, RYT began her career in the fitness industry teaching aerobics at the YMCA in 2003. It was here that she was first introduced to yoga.
